Dear Carolina Community,

Today, I want share with you some historic news for our university. At the close of the Campaign for Carolina, we have surpassed $5 billion to support our students, faculty and staff in our critical mission of teaching, research and service.

As of now, Carolina stands as one of just six public universities in the United States to exceed that total in a single campaign. More than 215,000 donors honored us with their support, with gifts coming from every corner of our community: alumni and friends, students and parents, corporations and foundations, grateful patients and their loved ones. Those gifts, many of which are invested in our long-term future, will pay dividends at our university for decades to come. I am grateful to every supporter and volunteer who invested in the future of our outstanding university.

This is a remarkable achievement. Not just because of the numbers — as remarkable as they are — but because of the impact the Campaign for Carolina will have on our campus and state, our nation and the world. Every gift played a role in the campaign’s success and was a testament to your excellence and the incredible work our community does every day.

We began the campaign eight years ago by asking our community a question: “What are you for?” This question was not rhetorical. We wanted everyone who cares about Carolina to think with us about their vision for the future.

Carolina is for those who believe in the hard work of creating a better future. We are committed to building a university that embodies the promise of excellence, accessibility and relentless pursuit of truth. This campaign will give us the resources we need to continue that work and to create that better future together.

I hope that you will join me in thanking our generous supporters for their belief in us and our mission.

Sincerely,

Kevin M. Guskiewicz
Chancellor
