As Tar Heels prepare for spring break, here are some resources for undergraduate and graduate students who plan to stay on or near campus. Take good care and return rested, rejuvenated and ready to finish the semester strong.
Campus resources
- Campus Health and CAPS will be open until 5 p.m. weekdays during spring break. When Campus Health or CAPS are closed, students can receive 24/7 support by calling (919) 966-2281 for UNC Nurse Connect and on-call providers at (919) 966-3658 for CAPS 24/7.
- All Campus Recreation facilities will be closed after 6 p.m. March 7. Rams Head will be open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. March 10-14 and noon-6 p.m. March 15-16. All other facilities will be closed during spring break.
- Carolina Dining Services locations at Lenoir Hall will close after lunch and at Chase Hall will close after dinner March 7. Many additional locations on campus are open during weekdays. Students can use flex to order delivery anywhere on campus from Takeout Central (access to delivery from over 30 local restaurants), Brenz Pizza, Domino’s and Wings Over Chapel Hill.
- Many local restaurants are open and are also offering take-out and delivery options. For information on local restaurants, visit What’s Open Downtown and consider other local delivery and pickup options, such as grocery stores.
- The Frank Porter Graham Student Union will be open until 5 p.m. on weekdays during spring break beginning March 10. However, the Student Union will be closed on March 8, 9 and 15. It will reopen 11 a.m.–5 p.m. March 16 and resume regular hours March 17.
- Check the University Calendar for events happening on or around campus.
- Check the University Libraries site for up-to-date information on accessing University Libraries during spring break.
- The Chapel Hill Transit Safe Ride route will not operate March 6-20.
- UNC Student Stores will maintain standard hours, which are 8 a.m.-7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-6 p.m. weekends. Student Stores Pharmacy will close at 5 p.m. on weekdays during spring break.
Health and well-being
Physical activity
- Enjoy movement in nature by visiting the Carolina North Forest or the North Carolina Botanical Garden near campus.
- Get your heart rate up with virtual on-demand fitness classes from Campus Recreation, including Pilates, dance, yoga, H.I.I.T. and more.
Mental health and well-being
- Check out some of the educational content on the Heels Care Network, such as “Breathe Easy” to learn ways to de-stress and cultivate calmness.
- Explore Student Wellness’ Dimensions of Wellness topics.
- Use the Heels Care Network’s mental health seminars to learn about various well-being topics.
- Check out these self-care ideas during spring break from Healthy Heels.
Financial well-being
- Take time to check out the Carolina Financial Well-Being Center, a new resource for Tar Heels that can help students navigate student loans, budgeting, saving for retirement and much more.
- Enjoy spring break and avoid comparing it with others’ experiences.
