Hello Heels app helps Tar Heels navigate campus

The revamped Hello Heels app puts a better campus navigation tool in the hands of Tar Heel students, faculty, staff and parents.

The app, formerly CarolinaGO, relaunched June 2 with more features to make life at Carolina a little bit easier. This includes accessing One Cards, navigating bus routes and much more.

Since its relaunch, the Hello Heels app has garnered more than 22,000 users. As the fall 2025 semester kicks off, the app is intended to help students and faculty better organize their day, stay informed about Carolina events and keep connected to the campus community.

Here’s a look at what the app has to offer.

Custom app experience

Once downloaded, the Hello Heels app prompts users to select their University affiliation: student, faculty and staff, parents and family or guest. The app then tailors options and features based on that selection. The app also redirects them to the Alert Carolina website, where they can sign up for safety alerts., where you can sign up for safety alerts.

Users can customize the widgets for an experience more suited to their daily experience. They can also sign up for timely push notifications about a variety of topics, including food security, financial well-being and more. Keep up with campus news

Hello Heels also enables users to read campus news published on The Well, as well as get access to the university calendar.

Access to digital One Card

Hello Heels is designed to be a one-stop shop for everything a Tar Heel needs — including access to the digital One Card. Users can view their card if they already have the GET Mobile app, as well as check their One Card payment history.

Bus route information

For anyone who has struggled to find a campus bus, Hello Heels is for you. Hello Heels aims to simplify transportation across campus, linking directly to Chapel Hill Transit’s online bus tracker. This enables students, faculty, staff and visitors to access real-time information on when and where the closest bus will arrive.

Health resources

Health and wellness are priorities at Carolina — and with Hello Heels, it’s easier than ever to get the support you need.

For those seeking mental or physical health services, the app provides access to a comprehensive health and wellness page. Users can connect with a therapist, schedule appointments and even refill prescriptions through the app.
