Carolina’s Philosophy, Politics and Economics Society receives $3.2 million grant
The award from the John Templeton Foundation will support research and allow the group to host workshops and build a network of resources.
UNC-Chapel Hill’s Philosophy, Politics and Economics Society has received a $3.2 million award from the John Templeton Foundation.
With that support, the PPE Society’s Research Consortium will establish an international grant initiative to support PPE research projects, host workshops for award winners and build an expansive catalogue of research and teaching resources. The PPE Research Consortium will be funding projects that apply the methods and insights of the namesake disciplines, and allied fields in the humanities and social sciences, to a broad range of research topics focused on understanding contemporary global issues. It will also be cultivating, and dramatically expanding, a vibrant ecosystem of PPE scholars.
“The PPE Society’s overarching aim is to support the research and teaching of those who recognize the value of PPE as a powerful and productive way to think about, and think about improving, the social and political world in which we live,” said Geoff Sayre-McCord, director of the PPE Society and director of Carolina’s Philosophy, Politics and Economics program in the College of Arts and Sciences.
