Rams Club names new leader

The Rams Club, the primary fundraising organization supporting Carolina student-athletes and coaches, announced Seth Reeves ’05 (MA) will serve as its next executive director, effective Sept. 1. Reeves has worked at The Rams Club for nine years, most recently as chief revenue and operations officer.

The Rams Club conducted a national search to identify Reeves as the organization’s next leader. He succeeds John Montgomery, who is retiring at the end of the year after 24 years as executive director of The Rams Club and more than 40 years in college athletics. Reeves will be just the fourth executive director in the organization’s 87-year history.

“Seth Reeves has been a respected and thoughtful leader for The Rams Club since joining the team nearly a decade ago,” said Jim Sigman, chair of The Rams Club’s Executive Board of Directors. “He will continue to challenge his team and the supporters of Carolina Athletics to adapt to the rapidly changing environment of college athletics. We have built incredible momentum in recent years, and we look forward to Seth’s leadership as we continue that upward trajectory.”

Reeves earned a master’s degree in exercise and sport science (sport administration) from the University in 2005. He worked several roles with Tar Heel Sports Properties before joining The Rams Club in 2016. Prior to his time in Chapel Hill, Reeves was a consultant for Accenture and studied at the University of Virginia, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in commerce. Reeves’ most recent responsibilities included cultivating and soliciting major gifts for scholarships, capital campaigns and sport endowments.

“Seth has been vital to building meaningful connections with Carolina’s coaches and supporters in order to support student-athlete opportunities,” said Bubba Cunningham, Carolina’s athletic director. “He will do an outstanding job as The Rams Club’s new executive director.”

A private foundation, the Rams Club provides valuable scholarship assistance, facilities, and programming that allow Tar Heel student-athletes in 28 varsity sports to train, develop and compete at the highest level at a leading public university.

The Rams Club worked closely with Parker Executive Search in the national search process.
