Barbara Hardin, widow of chancellor emeritus, dies at 93
She received a William Richardson Davie Award for extraordinary service to the University.

Barbara Russell Hardin, devoted Chapel Hill community member and widow of Chancellor Emeritus Paul Hardin, died Oct. 19 surrounded by family. She was 93.
Hardin graduated from Duke University, where she met her husband, but became involved with the University and Chapel Hill community when Paul Hardin became Carolina’s chancellor in 1988. She served on the boards of the Friends of the Library, Ackland Art Museum and University Woman’s Club on campus, as well as the Ronald McDonald House and Orange County Women’s Center.
In 2012, Hardin received a William Richardson Davie Award from the UNC-Chapel Hill Board of Trustees, recognizing extraordinary service to the University.
