Mike Andreasen to join Columbia University, Leslie Nelson-Bernier named interim vice chancellor for university development
During Andreasen’s three years at Carolina, the development team reached new milestones and expanded its ability to connect donors with opportunities.
Mike Andreasen, vice chancellor for university development, will depart Carolina to become executive vice president for university development and alumni relations at Columbia University.
During his three years at Carolina, the University’s development team reached new milestones and expanded its ability to connect donors with opportunities that advance Carolina’s mission, culminating in a $606 million fundraising year, the second-highest annual total in University history.
“Mike has strengthened Carolina’s philanthropic efforts and the way our teams work together across the University,” Chancellor Lee H. Roberts said. “We have valued his judgment and partnership and wish him well in the next phase of this long and impressive career.”
Andreasen and his wife, Marie, are also proud Carolina parents. Although they will soon make their home in New York, they will remain valued members of the Carolina family.
Leslie Nelson-Bernier, senior associate vice chancellor of development, will serve as interim vice chancellor for university development. She brings more than 20 years of experience and an unusually broad perspective on Carolina, having held senior roles across the University, UNC Health and NC Children’s. She is a trusted partner and outstanding leader who is exceptionally well prepared to take on this role.
Under Nelson-Bernier’s direction, the development organization will carry its strong momentum forward and continue advancing the University’s mission through philanthropy.
