pursuing new knowledge

In the classroom

Graduate students are an essential part of the Carolina community. They spend hours in the classroom becoming masters in their fields, from library science to neuroscience and from anthropology to pharmacology.

But Carolina’s graduate students aren’t just in the classroom to learn. As teaching assistants and mentors, they coach and inspire undergraduate students every day.

In the lab and the community

Carolina’s labs are places where discovery happens — not just in scientific laboratories, but also at excavation sites, wildlife reserves, hospitals and everything in between.

Our graduate students are making a difference wherever they go, including here on Carolina’s campus and in communities across the state. They’re improving the quality of our drinking water, making healthy foods more accessible in rural communities, supporting children in the foster care system and closing healthcare gaps that affect many North Carolinians.
