Helping people by creating change

UNC School of Social Work

Founded in 1920, the UNC School of Social Work is consistently ranked as one of the best in the nation. Through innovative research that improves practice and enhances education, the school searches for solutions to the challenges of poverty, mental health, violence and substance abuse.

With inspiring faculty, high-impact field placements and collaborative projects, the School of Social Work prepares social workers to make a difference.

As the school prepares to celebrate its centennial, it is working to become the leading school of social work in the nation for impact by accelerating discovery and translating knowledge into action.

As Carolina celebrates its 225th anniversary this year, we’ll spotlight the ways the University is preparing our students to thrive in a dynamic society and how it is opening the doors for great minds to make transformative discoveries. Throughout the year, we’ll profile academic units, hear from deans and learn about programs that set Carolina apart from other universities.

225 Years.

Our vision is to be the leading school of social work in the nation for impact: accelerating discovery and the translation of knowledge into action.
