A new school year is about to start, which means students will soon be back in Chapel Hill and campus will be buzzing again.
The Carolina community grows a little bigger each August, as thousands of new first-year, transfer and graduates students officially become Tar Heels, and new faculty and staff members begin their Carolina careers.

Through student groups and Campus Recreation's Sport Clubs program, thousands of students compete in Carolina blue on the weekends. From soccer and ice hockey to quidditch and ballroom dancing, the teams play at some of the highest levels of their sports.
Last year, Carolina celebrated its 225th birthday. For more than two centuries, Tar Heels have paved the way to a better world for generations to come. We walk the unpaved road with curiosity, courage and compassion. We build a better future one step at a time. And we’re just getting started.
