Spring at Carolina

Spring is in the air at Carolina, and the warmer temperatures bring plenty of favorite University traditions.

Nothing feels more like spring than graduation pictures around blooming flowers at the Old Well. As Commencement nears, seniors are lining up throughout the day to capture memorable photographs with their best friends.

Seniors participated in the annual tradition of climbing the Bell Tower on April 9. The event, sponsored by Carolina Alumni, had other activities, too, including a mechanical bull.

Mary Pope Osborne ’71, award-winning author known for her “Magic Tree House” book series, encouraged seniors who stuck around during a rainstorm at Last Lecture on April 10. The annual event is sponsored by the senior class and meant to provide words of motivation to graduates.

Students had the chance to share research findings during the 26th Annual Celebration of Undergraduate Research on April 23. The symposium showcases and encourages meaningful research in all disciplines while also allowing students to learn about new research opportunities.
