Making Carolina connections

Heel Life

At UNC-Chapel Hill, we think the best education includes finding ways to explore your passions. There are hundreds of opportunities to connect with fellow Tar Heels, get involved in activities and develop your talents.

With more than 800 student organizations, you will find many ways to explore your personal and intellectual interests and embrace your passions for music, the performing arts, computer programming, the environment, creative writing, student government, politics, international cultures and more.

Since 2015, Edible Campus UNC has been growing fruits, herbs and vegetables in gardens throughout campus and sharing the harvests with the Carolina community.

Carolina boasts nearly a dozen a cappella groups with styles ranging from R&B and pop hits to religious and Asian fusion.

Student groups are about more than finding a way to pursue new interests outside the classroom. They're about community and support.

Many of Carolina's student groups have found new ways to stay connected during this remote semester. From virtual theater to a cappella rehearsal on Zoom to digital game nights, students are finding ways to strengthen their community and build bonds with their classmates.

    The dancing doesn’t stop

In the spring, Carolina's annual Dance Marathon festivities went virtual, taking the 24-hour party to social media to support the families of the UNC Children's Hospital from afar.

    WXYC Keeps the Music Playing

Amid the coronavirus outbreak and social distancing measures that keep people physically separated, listeners can still tune in to WXYC and connect to the music they love as the station continues to provide its all-day broadcast.
