Internships open the doors to new experiences, networking opportunities and professional development. Over the summer, many Tar Heels have been interning at major companies and organizations around the country, learning more about the work they plan to pursue after they graduate.
Learn about four of our students' summer experiences
Kennedy Byrd, a rising senior and journalism major, is completing her second internship with ESPN. After spending much of her time at Carolina in front of the camera, Byrd is learning more about life behind the scenes at the sports media giant.

Rising senior Jenna Hynes is interning with the Piedmont Conservation Council in Siler City, North Carolina. She’s conducting fieldwork and partnering with community members to preserve the city’s water sources.

Anthony Howard, a rising junior and journalism major, is working with HBO Max’s social marketing team and learning what it takes to create buzz around new shows.

Rising senior Alexis Campbell is in New Jersey this summer, interning in Merck’s biophysics lab. At the pharmaceutical company, she’s gaining more independence as a researcher and honing her graduate school plans.
