Support and Emergency Funding

The Dean of Students office is ready and available to support students navigating impacts — personal, academic and financial — resulting from unexpected and emergent circumstances, including natural disasters. Students seeking support may connect by submitting a Care Referral or completing a Student Emergency Fund request. Upon receipt a member of our team will reach out to assess for immediate basic needs, support and connections to other campus and community resources, including those in the Office of Scholarships and Student Aid, that may further support mid- to longer-term concerns and needs.

Alternatively, individuals may call 919-966-4042 Monday-Friday between 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. or take advantage of other methods of connecting with the office.

The Office of Scholarships and Student Aid has funding available to assist during times of unforeseen circumstances such as natural disasters. Visit their website to learn more and submit a request form if assistance is needed.

Off-Campus Housing Assistance

Off-Campus Student Life can assist students who need assistance identifying new permanent housing options. They may be reached at offcampus@unc.edu.

Mental health and well-being

The Heels Care Network, including the mental health resource hub, allows for customization to best fit individual student needs.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) provides both individual and group counseling. Team members are available 24/7 at 919-966-3658.

Legal Advice

Carolina Student Legal Services is available to provide students with assistance in understanding the factors that should be considered when one seeks legal advice, to determine if a lawyer’s services are or are not necessary, and to provide appropriate representation or referral.
