Contact Detection Threshold (CDT):

Editing the Von Frey Hair calibration data file:

In order to view the von Frey calibration information (normally kept out of view of the casual user), do as follows:
- Click in the space just left of the bottom left corner of the "setup Information" frame (dark gray arrea on the picture at right). This will show the menu "Tools" tab.
- Click the menu => Tools => "Change Initial Parameters" option which will open the window below.
You can change the settings for the current session but these changes will not be saved.
To permanently change the calibration data the file "vtrain.cal" in the "Par" folder must be edited. This file is a plain text file with the extension changed from ".txt" to ".cal" that can be edited by means of any word processor.

Editing the Available Gaps:

Two Point Perception Threshold (2PPT) only:

This information can be found and edited in the file named: "PerceptionRetrainDFTs.ini" in the "Pgm" folder.
Make sure that the "Quantity" of "[Gaps]" indicated in the file at the line: "Quantity =..." is not zero.
If you need to edit the file make sure the program is not open before you save the new data; if the program is open it will save the old data back into the file as it is being closed.

Editing the Most Likelihood parameters:

Some of these parameters can be edited with any word processor in the "ini" defaults text file located in the "pgm" folder.  The minimum and maximum forces and gaps are actually the minimum and maximum values present in the "Force Calibrations for VTRAIN" and "Available gaps in mm" lists above.
Make sure  the name before the equal sign is not, in any way, modified (including spaces). This would make it unreadable by the software and the "factory" defaults  below, associated with the variable in error, would automatically  be restored.

Note:  The "Minimum Gap" and "Maximum Gap" when changed by the user, are not saved for the next run.  Each time the program is started, the "Available Gaps" list is checked. The first item is used as a "Minimum Gap" and the last item as a "Maximum Gap".  Should these settings change, you should rebuild the "Available Gaps" list in the initialization disk file: "2PointPerceptionThresholdDFTs.ini" (2KB).

Mouse Response:

The function of the Mouse buttons can be swapped by clicking the desired option button.  The display on the "Experiment" window will change to reflect the new option.

F1 function key.

For Help.

F2 function key.

If the program windows fail to show on the screen then press F2. This problem can be caused by the fact that the software remembers the location of each window and replaces them at the same location when the program is restarted.  F2 will reset their locations to the top left corner of the main display screen.
