Double Carolina grad named one of the Top 10 CNN Heroes of the Year

Carolina alumna Nora El-Khouri Spencer '01, '17 (MSW) was named to CNN's “Top 10 CNN Heroes of the Year" for her work with Hope Renovations, which offers a pre-apprenticeship training program for underemployed women to give them the skills to confidently enter the trades or enroll in apprenticeships and continuing trades education.

    New funding boosts support of Building Integrated Communities program

    The Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation awarded the program $1.55 million for its work in partnering with local governments statewide to create inclusive practices and policies for immigrant communities.
