With the end of the semester and senior traditions like the Bell Tower Climb and Last Lecture right around the corner, graduating senior Hunter Steen made sure to check off another Carolina bucket-list item last week.

Steen was among the nearly 90 students participating in a live-action version of the game of Clue in Wilson Library, an event making a comeback for the first time since before the pandemic.

“My entire group, we’re all graduating seniors,” Steen said. “We’ve never gotten this chance, and it’s been an awesome way to wrap things up.”

Each team of students was tasked with discovering clues in areas across Wilson Library and pairing them with information gained from interviews with Professor Plum, Colonel Mustard and other mainstay characters from the board game. Based on the clues gathered, each team made a case to indict the character they believed was responsible for committing the crime.

The goal of Clue in Wilson Library is to create a fun and memorable experience for students while also making Carolina’s oldest library and its millions of items more approachable.

“It’s a very unique experience. You’re not going to get it at any other library that we know of,” said Alison Barnett, business services coordinator for the North Carolina Collection at Wilson Library and an organizer of the game. “We hope that students walk out of Clue with the desire to come back into Wilson Library. We hope that they see something that they thought was really cool and want to come back.”
