Day in the life: Interdisciplinary artist
Paul Travis Phillips finds studio time during the day by fitting it in between research, class time and meals.
As a conceptual artist, Paul Travis Phillips starts with an idea. The materials — paint, drawing, sculpture, video, performance — come as a secondary. According to Phillips, who is now in his second semester in UNC’s Master of Fine Arts program in the College of Arts and Sciences, the hours of an artist are nonstop. Though his work has been showcased in more than 20 exhibitions, Phillips attends Carolina to expand his career in the arts as an academic artist.
Phillips is just one Carolina student creating incredible work.
Over the next few weeks we will be profiling a day in the life of a number of Carolina students.
