#GDTBATH: Vi Le
Carolina senior Vi Le is combining what she's learning in her advertising and Japanese classes to serve as the co-president of the UNC Aikido Club, which teaches the Japanese self-defense martial art.
Senior Vi Le tried several of Carolina’s martial arts clubs before she found her perfect fit with the UNC Aikido Club.
Now, Le is the club’s co-president, handling the club’s communications, which allows her to utilize what she has learned as an advertising and Japanese major.
Aikido is a Japanese self-defense martial art in which participants use an opponent’s energy and aggression to the participant’s advantage.
“I think it’s just a wonderful martial art that is really beginner-friendly,” Le said. “You start by not knowing anything, and then you learn your way up. I found that the Aikido Club members are really supportive of each other. We’re here to have fun together and to learn together. Everyone really becomes friends.”
