Graduating Tar Heels: Stephany Pritchard

Press the play button to learn how one graduating student balanced a job and family life on her way to a master's degree.

Stephany Pritchard always wanted to go back to school to earn a master’s degree. But with a full-time job and a family life, the task seemed daunting.

That was until she found the School of Media and Journalism’s online master’s program in digital communications.

The program allowed her to hone her skills to become a better communications professional and to achieve her goal of earning an advanced degree, while also keeping up with work and her home life.

“What makes UNC different is that you have experts at your fingertips and they’re willing to help you through your education,” she said. “I found that incredibly valuable and special. … I really liked the content that it offered. There were things that I could take back to my daily work on a daily basis. That meant a lot to me as a student.”

This weekend, Pritchard will have her master’s degree in technology and communication conferred along with nearly 1,200 other master’s students.
