Leading for results

A two-week fellows program at the School of Government aims to help local government professionals enhance their organizational leadership skills. The goal is not to help just one person, but the entire community.

The School of Government’s LGFCU Fellows Program aims to help local government professionals enhance their organizational leadership skills. The program is directed toward individuals who are new to managing and leading their organization, those transitioning from a technical to managerial and leadership responsibilities and high-performers who aspire to take on more leadership responsibilities.

“What we know from the fellows themselves is that when they go back to their communities, they tell us that they have the skills, the confidence, the vision, the ability to move their agencies forward in a way that didn’t happen before and so there is a ripple effect,” said Michael Smith, dean of the School of Government.  “It’s not just helping one person. Our goal is not just to help one person. Our goal is to help that community
