Piano art
Student-decorated pianos become part of the Carolina campus landscape on Arts Everywhere Day.
Ten colorfully decorated pianos are now part of the campus landscape, at least for the next week.
The pianos are part of Friday’s Arts Everywhere Day, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s first campus-wide arts celebration. The day will feature more than 50 performances, exhibitions, hands-on activities and installations across campus.
On Friday, student art groups and music students are scheduled to play the pianos during class changes, though the pianos will also be open for anyone to play.
The pianos were painted by students, some as part of an arts class and others by student organizations. They will be on campus until April 12.
Arts Everywhere Day is part of the Arts Everywhere initiative. The foundation of the initiative is that arts are for everyone, that every space can be a creative space, that arts create and share new meaning and that curiosity and discovery enrich daily life.
