Prized possessions

As first-year students packed their bags for Carolina, many made sure to bring at least one thing that holds special value to them. A few students took a little time out of unpacking on campus to talk about what they brought from home.

First-year students arrived on campus this week with stacks of boxes, new mini fridges and a lot of food.

But amongst the clothes and others necessities, many of the students brought at least one item that holds some sentimental value, something they didn’t want to leave at home.

Take a look at a few examples.

“I brought my Frisbee and cleats because Frisbee represents community for me.”
Selena Kleber from Atlanta

“This is a gift from my mother from when I was going through a rough time. I keep it with me because it’s supposed to take worries away.”
Michael Chilcott from Mooresville, North Carolina

“My grandmother gave a blanket to each of her grandchildren and I sleep with it every night.”
Samantha Christian from Apex, North Carolina

“I do magic tricks with cards. It’s a stress reliever for me and a great way to meet people.”

“My parents used this suitcase when they moved here from Paris and they wanted me to use it for my big move.”
