Dear Carolina Community,
We are writing to inform you that an incident of vandalism occurred at Ehringhaus residence hall sometime in the early hours of Dec. 13. A marker was used to deface several room and suite doors on multiple floors with a variety of words and symbols, many of which were racist, sexist and anti-Semitic. The vandalism was reported to UNC Police this morning, and they are actively investigating this incident in cooperation with Carolina Housing.
Hateful vandalism is unacceptable and not tolerated on this campus. This behavior conflicts with the University’s long-standing commitment to fostering an environment where all students, faculty and staff can be free from harassment.
If you have information regarding this incident, please contact UNC Police by calling 911. For campus and community resources and information about discrimination and harassment, visit SAFE at UNC. To report an incident of prohibited discrimination and harassment to the University, contact the Equal Opportunity and Compliance office.
