Livestream New Student Convocation

The ceremony will be held in Kenan Stadium on Aug. 16 for transfer students, the Class of 2025 and the Class of 2024, but the entire Carolina community can join in on the celebration virtually with a livestream on UNC.edu and the University's YouTube page.

Traditionally held the Sunday before classes begin for Carolina’s fall semester, New Student Convocation is the official kickoff of a Tar Heel’s academic career. The annual event brings together the newest class of students for the first time to welcome them to the Carolina community.

Due to inclement weather, New Student Convocation was postponed Aug. 15 and will be held Monday, Aug. 16 at 7 p.m. in Kenan Stadium. This year’s New Student Convocation will celebrate transfer students, the Class of 2025 and the Class of 2024, which held its celebration virtually last year.

The entire Carolina community — including family and friends of the students — can join in on the celebration virtually with a livestream on UNC.edu and the University’s YouTube page. The stream will begin shortly before the event starts at 7 p.m.

Speakers will include Chancellor Kevin M. Guskiewicz, Provost Bob Blouin, Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs Amy Johnson, Student Body President Lamar Richards and Bernard Bell, a two-time Carolina alumnus and the executive director of Carolina’s Shuford Program in Entrepreneurship.
