Dear Carolina Community,

On Oct. 17, the University will launch a campuswide diversity climate study. Understanding our campus’s climate is an important step toward ensuring that we continue to provide an equitable and inclusive environment where everyone feels and knows they belong.

As we strive to become the leading global public research university, diversity, equity and inclusion are critical to our success. This report will help inform how we move forward and our long-term DEI strategy. The first initiative of our strategic plan, Carolina Next: Innovations for Public Good is to Build our Community Together. Taking the pulse of our successes and opportunities to improve is important so we can continue to implement programs and initiatives that support our community. The survey results will be posted on the University Office of Diversity and Inclusion website, and the University’s DEI Council will share results with their schools and units.

You will receive an email directly from Viewfinder® Campus Climate Surveys, LCC, inviting you to participate in the survey, and accommodations will be available for those who need them. Your responses are confidential, and no personal identifying information will be collected from you. The survey will be open until November 18, 2022. If you have questions, please contact the Office of Institutional Research and Assessment at oira@unc.edu.

Every voice is important, and we look forward to hearing yours.

Sincerely,

Kevin M. Guskiewicz
