The annual Carolina Cares, Carolina Shares giving campaign is underway and runs through Dec. 14.

In conjunction with the State Employees Combined Campaign, Carolina Cares, Carolina Shares is the only authorized fundraising campaign permitted to solicit charitable contributions in the state employee workplace and within the Carolina community. This campaign empowers North Carolina’s 130,000 state employees to support the needs of their communities across the state.

In 2022, UNC-Chapel Hill employees pledged $325,804 in support of the mission of 373 charities. Carolina, historically the largest contributor to the State Employees Combined Campaign, was responsible for 14% of the overall $2.3 million in contributions to last year’s campaign, which includes participation from 47 other state agencies and universities.

Carolina’s goal for 2023 is $500,000.

Carolina employees can make a one-time gift or a recurring gift through payroll deduction using ePledge. Employees who opt to give through this preferred method need only their Onyen and Onyen password.

After signing into the platform, employees may select the charity designations and payment options. The ePledge method of giving serves as a personalized pledge form. Employees may also elect to pledge using cash, check or credit card through the online pledge form.
