Employee Appreciation Day says thanks
The Oct. 20 festivities include free food, live music and gifts to celebrate University’s “everyday heroes.”
Employee Appreciation Day is a day of games, music, lunch and some good old Tar Heel fun. The Office of Human Resources is celebrating Carolina faculty and staff and all they do for the University community.
“Carolina’s people are most certainly the University’s greatest asset, and while we celebrate our staff and faculty on this day especially, we appreciate their contributions to our mission each and every day,” said Becci Menghini, vice chancellor for human resources and equal opportunity and compliance. “We look forward to sharing in some food and fun and a bit of break from the regular workday to celebrate the everyday heroes that make this place great.”
Theannual eventwill be held in and around The Pit and the Frank Porter Graham Student Union from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. and will feature activities, giveaways, food and more. Participation is free and attendance is considered work time for staff. Supervisors and managers are encouraged to work with employees to allow attendance.
Free event parking will be available inCobb Deck.
Agenda and activities
From 6:45 to 9 a.m., enjoy a hot breakfast in The Pit.
Flu and COVID-19 vaccines will be available, without appointment, starting at 10 a.m.
- Flu vaccines: Student Union, Room 2518A-B.
- COVID-19 vaccines: Student Stores, third floor.
Most of the day’s activities will run from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.:
- Live music from The Ray Band.
- Custom caricature illustration by artists Charlotte Runde and Richard Cloudt.
- A department and local business fair with University departments and local business vendors sharing their services and products.
- Face painting artists featuring Carolina-themed art.
- Games and inflatables, including a surf simulator.
- Surprise employee gift at the welcome table.
- Pelican’s SnoBalls with 15 flavored syrups and five sugar-free flavored syrups.
- A 20% discount at the Student Stores (show One Card at checkout).
- Photo booths with photo and video sharing.
Lunch in The Pit, served 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m., will be a garden salad and a baked potato bar with all the fixings (grilled chicken, chili con carne, broccoli, mushrooms, bacon, cheddar cheese, scallions and sour cream).
