Celebrating our seniors

Thank you, seniors

Your years at Carolina go by so quickly, and for the Class of 2020, the end came more abruptly than expected. This was not the spring semester we wanted for you, but we are so proud of your spirit and your determination.

As you close out your Carolina careers as undergraduates, we want to thank you for leaving your heelprint on your campus. Go Heels!

Students hold a flag that says Carolina '20

You’ve been through a lot and you’ve accomplished so much. Remember the things that bind you to this place: your fellow classmates, your faculty members and the incredible memories you’ve made.

Forever
Tar Heels

Seniors, do you remember how you felt setting up your first dorm room or when you knew you had made a new lifelong friend on campus? Do you remember the feeling you had after leaving an exam you knew you excelled on or finished a paper that you had worked so hard writing? Do you remember how it felt when you took some time to breathe, to have fun, to celebrate a national championship?

Treasure those memories. Recall them frequently. As you finish your Carolina career, know that Chapel Hill will always be your home, that the Tar Heel community around the world is cheering you on and that those memories are yours forever.

As Charles Kuralt said 27 years ago, Carolina is more than just the Bell and the Well. While our iconic structures and the campus life bring a special energy to the University, it's the people — the Tar Heels — who make us great. Our seniors are a big part of that.

What binds us to this place?

As the spring semester came to an end, Carolina's a cappella groups virtually joined forces to sing the alma mater.

The sound of Tar Heel voices

At the start of what would have been Senior Week, our graduating Tar Heels checked in from across the world and shared their experiences of leaving Carolina without a proper goodbye.
