Winter Commencement

Years of hard work will come to fruition Sunday afternoon as 1,456 graduates will have degrees conferred at Carolina's Winter Commencement ceremony.

Our December graduates excelled in the classroom, conducted research, dominated their sports and served the state. Now, they’ll become leaders in their chosen fields and communities.

Ceremony information

The Winter Commencement ceremony will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 17, at the Dean E. Smith Center. Tickets are not required.

For those who cannot attend in person, the ceremony will be livestreamed.

Dr. Samantha Meltzer-Brody, the chair of the UNC School of Medicine’s psychiatry department and Assad Meymandi Distinguished Professor, will deliver the Winter Commencement address.

Meltzer-Brody has received global recognition for her research on perinatal and postpartum depression. She also directs the UNC Center for Women’s Mood Disorders.
