Dear Carolina Community,

We have enjoyed welcoming you to campus and hope your move in has gone well. We hope you have already made new friends and are ready for FDOC and a successful start to the fall semester.

Unfortunately, due to forecasted severe inclement weather this evening, New Student Convocation will now be held at 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 16, at Kenan Stadium, instead of today (Sunday, Aug. 15).

The weather forecast predicts rain and thunderstorms throughout the day, especially in the window before and during Convocation, which poses challenges to safely setting up and holding the event.

Unfortunately, the forecasted severe weather has caused us to cancel FallFest, which was scheduled for tonight. Many of the activities were scheduled to be held outdoors. We are working to move as many of these activities as possible to later in the month, as part of our SmallFest program. We will keep you updated about the details.

We are eager to formally welcome you to Carolina and are looking forward to seeing you at Kenan Stadium Monday night. We will continue to monitor the weather and will keep you informed if we need to make additional changes to our plan. Please be certain to sign up, or confirm that your information is current, for our Alert Carolina warnings in order to receive urgent safety messages regarding emergencies that present an immediate threat to health or safety on campus.

Sincerely,

Kevin M. Guskiewicz
Chancellor
